[Kirk stands in the corner, sipping on a coffee when a Tall thin man with long blonde hair enters. Decked out in a short motorcycle jacket and jeans. He glances around until Kirk catches his eye, he strolls over to him and extends his hand for a shake. His thick accent very apparent...]
"Hi, Kirk? I'm Lance Aukland..."
[Kirk nods, extends his hand for a shake. Lance graps his stony hand.]
Kirk: Enjoying our country?
[Lance smiles...]
Lance: Well from what I've seen of it so far... Being the airport, your "thruway" and this coffee shop...
[Kirk grins a bit and sets his coffee on the window sill...]
Kirk: then you've seen it all... So, why'd you want to meet me here?
[Lance grins, pulling a seat over...]
Lance: Do you mind?
[Kirk motions to the seat, and Lance sits down...]
Lance: Well Kirk, as I said in my email, I've heard some stories about you in my neck of the woods, and honestly? i'd like to see you in action first hand.
Kirk: So you want to follow me around for a day?
[Lance shakes his head slightly.]
Lance: No... Actually, I'd like you to follow us for a bit, how would you like to come to Australia for a couple weeks...
[Kirk's eyebrow arches up...]
Kirk: ...Why? What do you need me over there for?
[Lance tilts his head a bit, speaking a little more softly...]
Lance: Well, one of the members of the Vigilance Force is an excellent scientist, she would like to observe you in...
[Kirk's whole body tenses, his hand crushes the fortunately empty styrofoam coffee cup, his teeth clenches as he almost growls...]
Kirk: Forget it...
[Lance raises his hands up in a calming gesture...]
Lance: Kirk, listen, I know, I've heard about the tests done on you, and I can understand that you don't want to go back to that, and I'm not going to lie to you, there's no way that I, or she, or anyone knows of how to cure you, but it would benefit us greatly... We need your help.
[Kirk calms down a little bit, letting out a frustrated sigh.]
Kirk: Why the hell do you need me?
[Lance shifts in his seat a little bit...]
Lance: Perhaps I put it wrong... We're actually in need of a bit of a... sparring partner...
[Kirk squints his eyes, slightly confused...]
Kirk: What do you mean?
[Lance leans forward, resting his elbows on his knees, looking up at Kirk.]
Lance: Back home, we're having trouble dealing with a very bad person... His name is Crackdown... He's very similar to you. Extremely strong, incredibly durable, but a little on the... Slow side.
[Kirk clenches his jaw in offense.]
Lance: Hey mate, nothing against you, just the truth. The problem is that we have never faced anything like that before. We want to examine your strengths, and your fighting style to try to adapt a strategy to defeat this menace... We promise we can make it worth your while...
[Kirk laughs a little bit, rolling his eyes.]
Kirk: Is that right?
[Lance nods]
Lance: Yes, I understand you're trying to sell your property to get a new vehicle?
[Kirk looks at him quietly, waiting for him to continue...]
Lance: Well, in addition to an all expenses paid trip to Oz... A vacation, basically, we're willing to front you the money for your home. About $150,000, right? I know how long it can take to sell a house in the states...
[Kirk moves his mouth to one side of his face, thinking for a bit...]
Kirk: how long would I be gone?
Lance: About a week and a half.
[Kirk lets out a conflicted sigh, his face twisted in comtemplation.]
Kirk: Fine... I'll do it, but I swear to you, if I think for one single second that this is going to turn into some mad scientist bullshit. I will sink your whole gods damned island...
[Lance lets out a nervous laugh at his words...]
Lance: Alright mate, you got it, no worries... Our plane leaves tomorrow at 7:00am, you mind getting up early?
[Kirk scoffs.]
Kirk: Buddy, I grew up on a farm, that's late for me...
[Lance smiles...]
Lance: Alright I'll see you then...
[Lance smiles, standing up to "shake" Kirk's hand again, he walks out the door. Kirk is left standing in the Dunkin. Looking down at the floor, trying to decide whether or not he's made the right decision. He steps forware, shoving the door open with way too much force, not giving it any thought. The door flies off the hinges, halfway out into the parking lot, and shatters... Kirk sighs, holding his forehead, turning back towards the counter...]
Kirk: How much is that gonna cost me? _________________
