Those of you watching television will eventually come across the following program:
(In the WKTV studio)
Bill Warden: This is Bill Warden. Thank you for tuning in tonight for WKTV's special report: "Saviors Of The City". Tonight we will chronicle the activities of the City of Utica's Department of Super Powered Crime Defense that have led to the City's safety and economic turnaround as of late. We'll hear from people they have saved and victims they have helped.
However not all is without its drawbacks. We'll also hear from concerned citizens about their actions and how they have affected them. Most notably though, we have the rare opportunity for a sit-down interview with Utica's Mayor, Vincent Scalise. All this and more after the break.
(various commercials followed by the return of the program)
Bill Warden: Good evening ladies and gentlemen. Our first report comes from Megan Koskovic. She has followed the team closely and has put together a story on the history of the team so far. Megan?
(Camera switches to a young, attractive journalist)
Megan: Thanks Bill. I have had the pleasure of following the City of Utica's Department of Super Powered Crime Defense since it's inception.
(Camera cuts to footage of the team in action taking out Molten Earth and Perceptor as Megan continues)
The team has assisted the police in several arrests of criminals caught either in the act or under investigation. In extreme situations, the team has been forced to kill their assailants, but in those situations, members of the team have offered their assistance and support to the families of those killed.
The team is not without their own casualties however. (camera switches to side by side pictures of "The Blues Traveler" and Ka'hol) These two men gave their life in defense of this city and we will forever be in debt to them for protecting our safety and our way of life.
(camera switches back to Megan)
The City of Utica's Department of Super Powered Crime Defense has thus far been a success. Citizens are no longer afraid to leave their homes in neighborhoods such as the city's South and North sides. And progress is being made on a grass roots level in the Cornhill community.
Much of this is possible due to the team's personality and likability among the youth of the city. I had a chance to catch up with one such youth and interview her for our special tonight.
(camera switches to pre-recorded footage of an interview with a 12 year old boy and his 13 year old cousin at Lincoln Park in the city's west side)
Megan: So who is your favorite member of the city's Super Powered Crime Defense Department?
12 Year old: I like Kirk the best!
Megan: And why is that?
12 Year old: Because he's the strongest! (the boy's face lights up as he says this)
Megan: (motions to the other boy) And who is your favorite?
13 Year old: Wilhelm Scream!!
Megan: Wow! And why do you like him?
13 Year old: Because he came to my school and showed us some of his cool sound tricks!
(other kids in the background can be heard talking about their favorite members of the team and why they are better than the other members)
(camera switches back to Megan in the studio)
Megan: Business in the city is picking up too. As of this morning, Bank of America is planning on building three new branches and is going to re-open it's processing center thanks to the city being a safer place than it was before the team's creation. The city owes this team a great debt. Back to you Bill.
(camera switches to Bill Warden at his Anchor desk)
Bill Warden: Thanks Megan. After the break we have a report from News Channel 2's Evan White on how the City's Super Team has negatively affected some citizens.
(more commercials and then back to Bill in the studio)
Bill Warden: And now we'll hear from Evan White. Evan?
(camera cuts to a short black man with close cropped hair and a tiny voice)
Evan White: Thanks Bill. Most citizens in Utica are grateful for what Utica's Department of Super Powered Crime Defense has achieved, but there are some who have been adversely affected by the Department's actions.
(camera switches to a pre-recorded interview with Sal Reccio, owner of Sal's Subs on Genesee St. next to the Fort Schuyler Club, outside his home on Willowvale Dr.)
Evan: And how has the team affected you, Mr. Reccio?
Sal: (obviously annoyed with the question) How have they affected me? How have the affected me? I'll tell you how they affected me. They put me out of business! Ever since they took down the Fort Schuyler Club and half of my building with it, I haven't been able to make a single dime! In fact my lawyer is telling me that a bunch of us business owners here have a got a good case for a lawsuit against the city!
Evan: But the city is safer, is it not?
Sal: Yeah, but at what price? When the city was a dump, I was able to put food on my table. Now I can't. What does that tell you about the city and how they take care of their citizens?
(camera switches back to Evan in the studio)
Evan: Obviously some people are upset by the damage the team has caused and want action taken against the city and the team. We'll be following this story closely as it unfolds.
(camera switches back to Bill Warden)
Bill: Thanks for that Evan We'll be right back.... _________________
