Ok, for those of who have been following the story, what are your thoughts?
For those of you that haven't heard of this story here is the long and short of it:
Earlier in the week an IT consulting company named Psystar started selling Mac Clones on its website with OS X Leopard pre-installed. They were selling these computers for much cheaper than their Apple counterparts and thus Apple threw all of it's legal weight onto the company essentially stopping the selling of the computers. The reason why they did this is because Apple's EULA for OS X states that it is illegal to sell a machine with the operating system pre-installed on it. This also goes for any other EULA for any other Apple OS.
My opinion: Psystar came out of virtually nowhere and caused a huge ruckus in the Mac community. I'm not entirely sure if the company is legit because there isn't much to base its legitimacy on. However, Apple is leaving a bad taste in my mouth (pun intended) with their shutting down Psystar completely. Basically, they are saying that you can't have a Mac unless you either a) buy it from them, or b) build it yourself. Some people may be OK with this, but I find it a little disturbing that the high and mighty Apple is having a problem with a third party making machines with their OS on it. All in all, I would buy a Mac clone from Psystar because of its reduced cost. Once the company's legitimacy has been established, and Apple stops being rotten (another intended pun) about it. _________________
