We're going with the modern setting, and I'm thinking it will have a lot to do with the current political campaign, and all the crooked shit going on in the background (Hillary snorting coke before a debate, Hillary selling her soul to the devil, Hillary killing babies). Just kidding, but come up with some characters and I'll be able to think of a theme from there.
I'm wondering if you guys want to do the idea we started with for MIke's d20 modern game where we were all in a rock band. I think that'd be pretty awesome.
So do something like this:
Name:
Occupation:
Gender+race:
Personality:
Attire:
Aptitudes:
Friends and Contacts:
Enemies(if any):
General background(anything that doesn't fit above): |

I like the political campaign idea alot. Here's what I got...
Name: Michael Lazlow
Occupation: Spin Doctor/Mudslinger/Ditchdigger... wait, scratch that last one.
Gender+race: Male/Caucasian
Personality: Sleazy, nice to your face, ruthless behind your back.
Attire: A wide array of business suits.
Aptitudes: Persuasion, Lying, Ass-Kissing, research (mudslinging), forgeries.
Friends and Contacts: A network of private detectives and researchers, as well as a few actors on his payroll.
Enemies(if any): Too many to possibly mention here. If he's not working for them at the time, he's likely hated by them.
General background(anything that doesn't fit above): Lazlow is an expert at getting mud on people, if he can't find anything, he'll make something up. Affairs, criminal records, sexual propositions, you name it. He's the best at what he does and makes good money doing it. At the same time this puts a large bulls-eye on his back, there's been better than a dozen attempts on his life, ranging from the trivial to the extremely close call. Lazlow revels in his infamy. He started in politics, in some low-level offices such as city common council, when his political career didn't pan out he used his contacts to become the best "personal publicist" money can buy, speaking on behalf of his clients. It was from there that he took it a step up and began digging dirt on his clients' opponents. After finding out there was much more money to be had in that realm, he started devoting himself fully to mudslinging. He still is available for publicist work but he is mostly hired in private. He has a very large and horrible reputation and if it becomes publicly known he is working for someone their name gets severely tarnished. He has a 250lb wife of 12 years and a 120lb mistress of 5. |

Dan's character::
feel free to post this on the boards, I just wasn't sure if you wanted these kept private or not. By the way, I like the idea. It might actually get me to pay attention to the race a bit more. However, personal politics could cause some flaming. But whatever, thats what makes it fun. anyway:
Name: Duke Rhoads
Occupation: Political Columnist, USA Today
Gender+race: Male - White
Personality: Quiet and reserved when on the job, but a philandering boob when he's off the job.
Attire: worn baseball cap, polo shirts of varying colors, jeans or khakis depending on his mood and sneakers
Aptitudes: Very good at getting under a person's skin. Very good at seeing through lies. Also very good at telling stories and getting people's attention.
Friends and Contacts: Amy Luvana - Duke's Editor at USA Today
Ralph Steadman - Duke's wild best friend from grade school who is a drunken illustrator whose work ends up in Duke's column frequently
Enemies(if any): The campaign coordinators of every candidate in the history of Duke's reporting. Duke has a history of exposing candidates for good or ill in his column
General background(anything that doesn't fit above): Duke is a fairly decent guy who is caught up in the not-so-decent world of Politics. He writes his column in a very interesting way so that even the layman can read it, understand it and enjoy it. He feels this is the only way to truly reach the people who aren't glued to 24 hour news constantly.
I was thinking that majority of posts for this character could be his columns that appear in the newspaper. Lemme know what you think. |

Name: "Sly" Sammy Merron
Occupation: Reporter for the In View Tonight News Program
Gender+race: Male / Whitey
Personality: Seemingly kind, but quite conceeded(thinks he's the shit[minor narcissus])
Attire: Suit or Undercover Outfit
Aptitudes: Sneaky, Smooth Talker, Negotiations, Kung Fu, Judo, Brazilian Kickboxing, Jujitsu, Drunken Kung Fu
Friends and Contacts: Jimmy "Cheese" Jones, (fellow reporter) + Master Fu Kang(thought him martial arts, started out for self-defense, but grew into a true passion[only man he truely respects]) + Melissa Doore (fellow martial arts student and former lover)
Enemies(if any): Mark Green(actor, exposed by Sammy) + Tim Sullivan(Senator, exposed by Sammy) + Sandra Cain(fellow reporter, Sammy gets all the big, important jobs, so she hates him)
General background(anything that doesn't fit above): Working on a big case to discover the truth behind the death of one Lars "Pyro" Yultz former lead singer of Leatherhead, Heavy Metal Band--Many leads with internal conflict in band(also the current political frontrunner had made some odd comments about the singer which seem to implicate him), has infiltrated band as a groupie(while also doubling as a political reporter during all the happenings in the political race)...also trying to rekindle an old flame in Melissa, and helping Master Fu Kang with payments so he can keep his Dojo open |
