Anyone want to try getting an RPG going on the message boards just for fun? Nothing serious, just for fun. I want to try and simultaneously increase the frequency of posts on the board, as well as increase the content. Seems like this would be a good way to do both plus have some fun.

Nothing serious to get in depth with, but I think it'll be fun. I'm thinking I'll do it DnD style, since it kinda makes sense that way. At least when you're taking an hour to look up the rules, you actually have an hour to do so...

If we do get this going though, I'd like to see some decently typed roleplayingish posts. SO if you're in combat, you don't just swing on the goblin, you make it more flavorful than that. Something like, "Die you foul demons, I shall smite you with my mighty hammer!", then..

*I wail on this fucker with my hammer.*

Some sort of format would be nice, like anything in game is in regular text, or bold if you want, then anything OOG is italics. Any sort of actions are inside of astirisks or + signs or whatever you wanna do, just so it's clear.

I'll probably do all the dice rolling myself, and just record the results. I'll put your actual damage output in parenthesis. So with our example, it will be all of that + at the bottom (2d6+3 for 9 damage)

I know for a fact that she been doing online RPG's for years, so I know she's good.

I'll say right now that if it comes to a vote I prefer modern/sci fi to fantasy.

lol, what does my writing capability have to do with her DMing? Anyways, I'm a sucky writer in a traditional sense. My only goal is to give you guys an idea of what I'm going for. Either way I'm going to be DMing.

Soon as I get 3 players I'm going to ask people to roll up characters. So right now I have 1. 33% full! Once I get 3 players I'll have you guys make characters for whatever we decide on. Obviously if more players want to get involved they're welcome. If you want to have 2 characters, it seems pretty manageable for this so you're welcome to. I'd like everyone to start off with one though. Even if you wanted to play one of the NPCs that I had going as another character I might consider doing that. Since we don't necessarily need a system to do this, I could probably run any sort of setting. The closest I wanna get to modern is like 1800s or possibly a bit earlier than that. I might be able to do a vampire set in the mid 1800s somewhere, seems kind of interesting. Just type up the ideas, and we'll go from there. I want this to be as hippie communeish as I can possibly get it.

I'll play. I consider my writing capabilities to be quite admirable, what sort of "example" would your sister prefer? Perhaps some sort of ultimate writing showdown is called for.

It's kind of ironic that the post about how our writing abilities are to be tested has words like "comit" and "caipabilaty".

That makes 2 players, I want to get this started so just 3 would be enough to get goin. More can add on later.

Two writers enter, one writer leave.

<begin writing sample>

Clothed in blood stained rags, Rorgash the barbarian surveyed the battlefield, her battleworn sword heavy in her weary hands. All around her lay the dead and dying sell-swords, stuck in the familiar battlefield mud made of blood, sweat, and tears*. She felt a warm sense of triumph. Now, if only she could make her way back to her people before they found her again...

She felt a horrible sinking sensation as she saw the bareback rider on the horizon. "I know how she rides," Rorgash thought. In her weakened state, she knew there was no way she could outrun a horse. Perhaps normally, but not with the wounds she had taken. Instead, she stood up, bravely facing down her nemesis as she inexorably drew closer.

"Mercenaries! You have no honor, Shaela!" shouted Rorgash, as she charged the horse and rider. At the last moment, she ducked low and slashed at the horse's leg, and rolled to the side. Caught by surprise, Shaela barely had time to leap from the horse before it came crashing to the ground. Slowly, the two barbarian women rose to their feet, and stood face to face.

"Honor means nothing, and you know it," said Shaela as she advanced on Rorgash with lust for power burning in her eyes. Rorgash knew she would have to defend herself until Shaela left an opening.

Such an opening never came, however. Shocked by the fury of the assault, Rorgash's sword was wrenched from her hands. Struck on the head by the hilt of her own sword, she fell to her knees.

"You do not need honor when you are strongest, and right now, YOU are the weak one," continued Shaela as she grabbed Rorgash by the hair.

"You are not fit to lead," coughed Rorgash.

"I am more fit than you, weakling," laughed Shaela as she pushed Rorgash to the ground and knelt on top of her. "And now, I mark you as mine." She began to cut open what was left of Rorgash's clothes.

Suddenly, Rorgash realized that look in Sheala's eyes had been lusting for more than just power...

*but mostly blood, really

Sorry 'bout that ending. Most of my writing experience is in erotic lesbian fan fiction.

Begin writing sample

Once upon a time, there was a lovely little sausage
called `Michael', and it lived happily ever after.

End writing sample

It's semi-autobiographical

Mike, that was a good story, but I feel that I prefer the made for TV movie/documentary better.

I'm in, this sounds like a reasonably good idea, and I'm all for getting board activity increased. Plus, this might just get Sass to finally join the boards.

If sass put that much thought into everything else he does, we'd have ourselves some production!
