Okay, so I was working on this dungeon adventure thing for a while now and I've finally pretty much finished it. 90% of the campaign will take place in a dungeon I have hand made and personally oversaw the construction of. I was going to let Bill use it for his campaign, but he said I should just run it myself. So, I'm going to. Same rules as most of my other campaigns:
Rules:
1. Core Books, PHB2, DMG2, and the series of "The Complete..." books only. I don't own all of these books and I won't be bringing mine for you to use, so either have it printed up, have the book yourself, or don't use something from that book.
2. Ability Point Buy System; As you know, I hate random ability point rolls, as they're based on luck rather than skill, so I'm using the point buy system from the DMG instead of the rolling system. You get 25 points to distribute as you see fit. Here's the point buy chart:
Ability Score - Point Cost
9-1
10-2
11-3
12-4
13-5
14-6
15-8
16-10
17-13
18-16
3. Starting gold will be equal to your highest possible gold you can start with for your class.
4. I was looking over the experience tables and treasure reward tables from the DMG when I noticed it doesn't take all that many enemies to hit the next level. This campaign is going to have a lot of combat encounters, more so than my other campaigns, so I decided to modify the system a little bit. Certain level ranges will have different changes made to the game system.
Levels 1-5 : No Changes
Levels 6-10: -20% experience gained, +20 to random item drops
Levels 11-15: -20% experience gained, +Highest possible HD increase
Levels 16-20: -20% experience gained, +1 to Saving Throw
Further Explaination:
The negative and positive bonuses are cumulative so that at level 16 it would look something like -60% experience gained, +20 random item drops, +HD increase, +1 Saving Throw.
-% bonus: I'd assume this is self explainatory. When I add up your experience at the end of the battle or sesssion, however I see fit at the time, you lose that much experience from the total experience gained rounded up to the nearest whole number.
+20 item drop bonus: When I roll on the item chart after a random encounter, which produces random treasure, I will roll the percentile dice and then add 20 to that roll, so say I roll 85%, I add 20% and it comes out to 100%.
+HD Bonus: You gain an additional HD when you level up. The HD is turned to the highest number and you gain that much HP from it. It doesn't affect the abilties you have, it is just bonus HP.
+1 Saves Bonus: You gain an additional +1 to one of your saving throws when you level up.
5. Location:
At the moment it is undecided.
Could be my house, Bill's, Sean's, someone else's house. Depends who is interested in playing, if anyone.
6. Time:
At the moment this is also undecided.
Depends on who is playing and when I'm available.
7. Food:
Once again, undecided.
Depends on who is playing, what they like to eat, how much they want to spend, where we're playing.
8. Property:
Bring your own dice, calculators, books, pens & pencils, erasers, etc. If you don't have a book you aren't allowed to borrow anyone else's. It slows the game play substantially when four people are looking at the same book. So, if you need to remember something about your character, then write it down in a notebook or bring your own book(s). Only exception is someone with a pet, familiar, or something which resembles either of those. I will give you the pet stats and what not from my DMG or MM as a player isn't required to have those.
9. Cheating:
If I catch you cheating, then you have to slap yourself across the face and say "I hump old men." Also, I might do something to you in game.
10. Arguing with the DM:
I have ultimate power in my campaign, if you want to argue something with me, feel free to, but you lose. I am always kind to my PC's and never purposely try to piss you guys off or kill you. Sometimes, I make up weird insane house rules that seem odd to you, but to me they seem fair. If you guys are fighting on some weird terrain during the campaign and I improvise some rule that doesn't go along exactly with the book rule on it is, don't argue with me over it. Most of the time I'm doing what I think will make it easier for you guys.
11. Slavery:
You are not my slave and if you don't like my games, you don't have to play them. Don't ever feel obligated to play my campaign if you don't want to. If you would rather be doing something else when I run my game, then go do it.
12. Don't talk about Fight Club:
Don't talk about Fight Club!
13. Reserved for future rules mongering use. _________________ FOR GREAT JUSTICE! |

Word. I'm for doing this, and I'll let you run it at my house, or if you wanna do it at your place that's cool too. Just so you know, I'll be breaking rule 12 from time to time as well. Since I don't make characters out of books I don't own, I'll probably go with a Wizard, eventually heading towards Loremaster.
This sounds like a lot of fun! |

I might be working on my Master's this summer, but that's only Tues/Thurs. I'm free any other day, and tuesday/thurs if it is at night.
However, I will be getting a job during the day, so I'll be available only at night I think. Hope that's okay w/ everyone. |

| Mid May, and then I get back mid June. If it conflicts I'll just make a character and you can NPC it. I'll give you the details. |

Okay, Bill is making a wizard/lore master or something to that affect. He has a unique item I've given him which holds a number of books equal to his total knowledge skills combined. As far as I see it, this only adds to the roleplaying and storyline aspect of the game. So, if any of you have suggestions of something you would like that adds only to roleplaying and not combat/character buffing, let me know.
EDIT: If everyone could also post what they're making, that'd be good too. _________________ FOR GREAT JUSTICE! |

Alright, if no one else is running anything Sunday, I think I might run my campaign after I get out of work. Since I don't know who is playing or anything, we'll just have a character generation session and make sure the party is structured. Whoever shows up to the first session will be the only people I accept into the campaign, as I don't want to keep having to introduce people into the plot line. If you guys are already doing a campaign Sunday, this doesn't stand. But I don't know what anyone is doing so this is the best way to find out. _________________ FOR GREAT JUSTICE! |

2 or less people: My house
3 or more: Bill's house?
Or...
OpenRPG using Skype for chatting just like we would at the table, except we'd have a virtual table and no one has to leave the comfort of their own home. _________________ FOR GREAT JUSTICE! |

Fun fact! The average roll on 4d6-drop-the-lowest is about 12.2446, and if we assume that the cost of such a score would be 4.2446, then having all six ability scores at that price would be 25.4676. This is a well designed point buy system!
Are 8s free, or can you just not take them? _________________ In response to your Lightning Blast, I'll eat this burrito.

You can take 8's. Kudos to Tom for clearing that up.
Today after 3pm I guess we're playing? If people can give me a call and let me know exactly when after 3pm is best for them that'd be good. (734-5918)
Also, if you guys would like I can copy your character sheets and post them online after today's session. I'd have put them up already but none of the sheets are 100% complete. We'll finish that today though before we resume playing the campaign.
I will be putting some game notes up for you guys after this session. Certain notes will remain hidden until discovered in-game. But I'll type all the notes up and just give them to you as you discover them in the course of play.
Bill won't be able to attend our next 2-4(?) sessions. I've decided I'm not going to NPC characters, I have enough stuff to do without also controlling someone else's character. But he will still be considered as traveling with you guys for the sake of storyline continuity. Mike should be joining you guys when he comes back from school. At that time it'll be up to 5 party members again, there should only be 1 game where neither Mike nor Bill is involved. Then, Bill should be back before Mike leaves, I think. So it'll be up to 6 PCs.
If anyone else thinks they want to join, let me know before the campaign today. _________________ FOR GREAT JUSTICE! |

If anyone is playing today after 6 (when I get out of work), let me know. If we don't play today then we'll play thursday after 6 (when I get out of work tommorow). If both days people aren't interested in playing, we just won't run it this week and we'll aim for some time next week. _________________ FOR GREAT JUSTICE! |
